Blunt Statement on Health Care Industry Meeting at White House
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt, chairman of the House Health Care Solutions Group, issued the following statement after President Obama’s press conference on health care reform with industry associations:
“Reducing costs is a critical step to increasing Americans’ access to quality health care. I’m glad these industry leaders are committed to that goal.
“Reining in health care costs is important, but we cannot overlook the fact that this pledge alone doesn’t save the federal government any money. We still don’t know how the Administration will pay for its $1.5 trillion health care proposals and the American people deserve to see a plan.
“The House Health Care Solutions Group is meeting with outside experts and have told White House officials we are ready to work with them. I hope they will take us up on our offer and we’re looking forward to crafting bipartisan legislation to improve health care for all Americans.”
