Employment Policy for Strategic Alliance to Promote Employment of Americans
with Disabilities
WASHINGTON, DC (September 24, 2008)
The US Business Leadership Network (USBLN®) today announced that
it entered into a Strategic Alliance with the U.S. Department of Labors
Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) to promote employment of people
with disabilities nationwide. The USBLN® is only the third organization
to receive this prestigious honor, along side the Society for Human Resource
Management (SHRM) and CVS/Caremark.

Exceptional Leadership Awards Nominations NOW OPEN
The US Business Leadership Network (USBLN®) is pleased to announce the
opening of the nomination process for its annual Exceptional Leadership Awards.
These awards help us to further our mission of sharing best disability employment
practices. Categories are Chapter of the Year, Employer of the Year
and Partner of the Year. These awards will be announced at the USBLN

America's Heroes at Work
WASHINGTON Americas Heroes at Work, a joint initiative of the
U.S. Department of Labors Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP)
and the Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS), was launched
today at the National Press Club by ODEP Assistant Secretary, Neil Romano,
and VETS Assistant Secretary Chick Ciccolella. Located at
www.AmericasHeroesAtWork.gov,
the site features common employer questions, success stories, downloadable
fact sheets and practical information on implementing simple workplace supports
to help those with TBI and PTSD achieve workplace success.

Strength! is 2008 National Disability Employment Awareness Month theme
WASHINGTON U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao today announced
that "America's People, America's Talent... America's Strength!" will be
the official 2008 theme for National Disability Employment Awareness Month,
which is observed in October nationwide. The 2008 theme captures the
accomplishments highlighted in the 2007 progress report on President Bush's
New Freedom Initiative for people with disabilities.

(April 16, 2008) - Local Businesses Form a Network Focused on Disabilities
to get a Competitive Edge
To help businesses tap into this underutilized talent pool, 10 business
representatives from Binghamton, Syracuse, Ithaca, Rochester and Buffalo
as well as staff from Cornell and the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce,
met at the ILR Conference Center on April 2 to inaugurate the Business Leadership
Network (BLN) of CNY. This new chapter of the U.S. Business Leadership Network
is co-chaired by Lynette Chappell-Williams, director of Cornell's Office
of Workforce Diversity, Equity and Life Quality and Tony Ruiz-Quintanilla,
director of the Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center (DBTAC)
of Cornell's Employment and Disability Institute in the ILR School.
