Congressman Castle is dedicated to a number of issues that are important to Delawareans. Below is a list of awards that Congressman Castle received in 2007 and 2008:

Protecting the Environment

Rep. Castle received the Coastal Advocate Award from the American Shore & Beach Preservation Association for being a champion for Delaware's beaches and for America's coastal communities during his tenure in the House and as Governor.

Congressman Castle achieved a perfect score of 100 in the second annual Congressional scorecard by the Republicans for Environmental Protection (REP), a national grassroots organization.

He was also honored by the League of Conservation Voters with a 95% score for his legislative record on voting for a cleaner environment for the First Session of the 110th Congress.

Strengthening Education

In June 2008, Rep. Mike Castle was honored with the Lewis Huffman Civic Education Award by "We the People," a non-profit, non-partisan educational corporation dedicated to promoting an enlightened and responsible citizenry.  Rep. Castle is only the second person to receive this award, the first being Lewis Huffman for whom the award was named.

Congressman Mike Castle was honored by the Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development (ASCD) with the ASCD Whole Child Leadership Award in recognition of his leadership on behalf of students.

Improving Healthcare

Congressman Castle was awarded the American Cancer Society's National Distinguished Advocacy Award for 2007.  This award is the highest national advocacy honor bestowed by the Society and is in recognition of the Congressman's ability to bridge the partisan divide in pursuit of the fight against cancer. 

Rep. Castle received the American Society for Cell Biology Public Service Award in 2007 for his outstanding national leadership in support of biomedical research.

Congressman Castle received the American Society of Hematology Award for Public Service and continued attention to medical research in the United States.

In 2007, The American Heart Association awarded Castle with the Public Service Award for his support and leadership on many legislative initiatives aimed at reducing death and disability from heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.

Congressman Castle was the recipient of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America 2007 Public Policy Leadership Award for his support of the Crohn's disease community and his co-sponsorship of H.R. 1113, the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Research Enhancement Act.

2007 Morris K. Udall Award for Public Service by the Parkinson's Action Network (PAN) presented to Congressman Castle in October 2007. Presented to those distinguished individuals who have made important contributions to public policy with the humor, grace, and dignity for which Mo Udall is remembered.

Protecting Animals

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and Humane Society Legislative Fund (HSLF) honored Congressman Mike Castle with the "Humane Advocate Award" for his advocacy on animal welfare issues considered by the Congress in 2007 and for receiving a perfect score on the annual Humane scorecard.

Strengthening American business and the economy

Congressman Mike Castle was honored with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence for his voting record in the 109th Congress.

Congressman Castle received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise Award in April 2007 for his strong voting record on critical business issues in the Second Session of the 109th Congress.

Misc.

Rep. Castle received the Whitney M. Young Jr. Award from the Wilmington Urban League in April 2008.  Young is the former president and CEO of the National Urban League and the award honors outstanding contributions and leadership in business, industry, and government.
