OG&E's Lineman Larry shares electric safety lessons with students in Ponca City. More than 1,500 elementary school students were on-hand for the McReady show in Ponca City. Oklahoma emergency managers have launched this year’s McReady Oklahoma campaign. Gov. Brad Henry has proclaimed April "McReady Oklahoma Family Preparedness Month" and throughout the month the statewide severe weather preparedness campaign will feature displays in more than 160 McDonald’s restaurants. As part of this year's campaign, the McReady show is traveling to numerous Oklahoma communities. The McReady campaign is a public-private partnership designed to prepare families for emergencies, to increase awareness of severe weather threats and to help build prepared communities. Weather safety shows will be held at many schools in communities throughout the state. Emergency managers and officials with the National Weather Service are holding weather radio programming events and still more McReady partners are honoring volunteers and hosting open houses as part of this year’s program. In addition to the displays packed with brochures and booklets, the campaign includes a weather safety DVD to assist families in preparing for the storm season. The DVD features Oklahoma First Lady Kim Henry, KOCO Channel 5’s Head Meteorologist Rick Mitchell and OG&E’s Lineman Larry.
