Planning for, developing, and maintaining a community's physical infrastructure is essential both for service to current residents and future economic competitiveness. In order for Nevada's rural areas to succeed, citizens must have affordable access to water, sewerage, solid waste disposal, electricity, and telecommunications services.

USDA Rural Development is able to offer loan, and occasionally grant programs for all types of community infrastructure. In addition, we and our partners provide technical assistance to communities to help local leaders make infrastructure decisions and obtain financing from multiple sources.

The utilities program delivers its services through water and waste disposal loans and grants, solid waste management grants, distance learning and telemedicine loans and grants, and other technical assistance and training grants. Electric and telephone loans are made available through rural utilities field representatives.
