Getting SeaWiFS Data

Commercial Users

If your work is not considered 'research' you must purchase SeaWiFS data from ORBIMAGE as they own the commercial rights to it. Please note that ORBIMAGE refers to SeaWiFS data as OrbView-2 data.

NASA-Authorized Users

If your work is considered research you may apply to become an NASA-Authorized SeaWiFS user. Once Authorized you receive SeaWiFS data freely from the Goddard Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) after the data is at least two weeks old.

NASA-Authorized Ground Stations

If your work is considered research and your organization wants to receive High Resolution Picture Transmission (HRPT) SeaWiFS data, you may apply to become an Authorized SeaWiFS Ground Station.

Real-Time Data

If you are already an Authorized SeaWiFS User and you want to get data in real time from an already existing SeaWiFS Ground Station (including your own), you can apply to become an Authorized SeaWiFS Temporary Real-Time User.

If you are already an Authorized SeaWiFS User and you want to get data in real time from an area where there isn't an Authorized SeaWiFS HRPT station, you can request Overflight Scheduling from the Ocean Color team.
