Having Problems with Your Application Submission?
For issues relating to downloading or navigating Adobe forms or technical aspects of submitting to the Grants.gov system, contact the Grants.gov Contact Center
For issues relating to the eRA Commons registration process, correcting errors or warnings or viewing your grant application, contact the eRA Commons Help Desk
If you find you are still not going to meet the submission deadline:
- Due to technical issues with our systems
Experiencing problems with Grants.gov that threaten the timely submission of your grant application? Are you unable to even obtain the tracking number and timestamp necessary to verify on-time submission? In these cases, documenting your difficulties is important!
- Contact the Grants.gov Contact Center to document and help resolve the submission issues
- Document the issue with the eRA Commons Help Desk and be sure to include your Grants.gov support ticket number
If the eRA Commons Help Desk is able to verify a system issue that is beyond your control, you will be placed on a ‘Systems Issues’ list that is shared with NIH’s Division of Receipt and Referral and your application will not be considered late, as long as the submission process is completed within the five-day correction window.
IMPORTANT: Due to ongoing performance issues at Grants.gov, NIH is extending the error correction window for grant applications from two days to five days for those submitting electronically for receipt dates through February 2009. See NIH Guide Notice NOT-OD-09-045. This extension should allow applicants sufficient time to correct system identified errors or warnings, following on-time submission.
- For other reasons
NIH Policy on Late Submission of Grant Applications
NIH may accept an application late for valid and compelling reasons such as large scale natural disasters, death of an immediate family member and service on a NIH peer review group. The reasons for the delay are carefully considered on a case-by-case basis. Remember, permission for a late submission is not given in advance!
