Granger Announces Grants

Fort Worth – Congresswoman Kay Granger has announced the award of grants to two Tarrant County agencies.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded $198,400 to the Fort Worth Housing Authority to help housing authority residents to become self sufficient.  The “Graduation Incentive Bonus Program” award goes to public housing authorities, such as the Fort Worth Housing Authority, that have a proven record of helping their residents become self sufficient and less dependent on public housing.

The U.S. Justice Department awarded Tarrant County $165,700 to help the county analyze backlogged forensic DNA samples that are needed to prosecute crimes involving sexual assault, homicide and kidnapping.  The county can use the funds to enhance its lab capabilities or it can hire private accredited firms to do the testing on the backlog of samples.
