Review Update
Following completion of the initial child and family services reviews, all 50 States, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia were required to develop and implement Program Improvement Plans (PIPs) addressing the areas in their child welfare systems found not to be in substantial conformity with Federal requirements. So far, Delaware, Kansas, Minnesota, Oregon, and Vermont have completed their PIPs, and the Administration for Children and Families has completed its evaluation of their PIPs. Most of the remaining States are in the PIP implementation stage, while seven States are in the process of finalizing their PIPs.
The Children’s Bureau is continuing plans for the second round of reviews, which follow the completion of PIPs by the States. Once the re-review schedule has been finalized, it will be published in the Child and Family Services Reviews Update and on the Child Welfare Reviews section of the Children’s Bureau Web site at http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cb.
