APTA'S Transit Fare Database


APTA's Transit Fare Database CD-ROM contains detailed information on about 250 U.S. transit agencies. Included are base fares, surcharges, discounts, short-distance route fares, multi-system fare arrangements, passes, tickets, equipment used, types of payment accepted, and much more.

Here are examples of summaries included in this report:

APTA'S Transit Vehicle Database

APTA's Transit Vehicle Database CD-ROM contains detailed information on about 300 U.S. transit fleets, as well as procurements in the next 5 years. Included are year built, manufacturer, vehicle type, size, cost, accessibility, fuel type, number of vehicles, and other information.

United States Government Statistics


Bureau of Transportation Statistics

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), as part of the United States Department of Transportation, compiles, analyzes, and makes accessible information on the nation's transportation systems; collects information on intermodal transportation and other areas as needed; and improves the quality and effectiveness of DOT's statistical programs through research, development of guidelines, and promotion of improvements in data acquisition and use.

National Transit Database

The National Transit Database (NTD) is the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA's) primary national database for statistics on the transit industry.

NTD: Transit Agency Profiles

United States Urbanized Areas

Within the transportation planning community Urbanized Areas are typically referred to as the UZAs.  An Urbanized Area is a statistical geographic entity designated by the Census Bureau, consisting of a central core and adjacent densely settled territory that together contain at least 50,000 people, generally with an overall population density of at least 1,000 people per square mile.
