Oxaliplatin is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be used together with other drugs as adjuvant treatment for stage III colon cancer in patients who have had surgery to remove the cancer.
It is also approved to be used with other drugs to treat colorectal cancer that has advanced or recurred after earlier chemotherapy.
Oxaliplatin is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer.
