Fire Management
Fire Island National Seashore completed a Wildland Fire Management Plan in early 2005.

An environmental assessment (EA) was prepared to better understand the environmental effects associated with activities which were incorporated in the park’s Fire Management Plan, including wildland fire suppression, prescribed fire, and manual/mechanical thinning hazardous fuels reductions.

The Finding of No Significant Impact and the final draft of the Wildland Fire Management Plan, February 2005 are available on-line. 

 
 
Lifeguard stand and rescue buoys are stationed on the beach.  

Did You Know?
Lifeguarded beaches are provided at Fire Island National Seashore during the summer at Watch Hill and Sailors Haven.
