What you can’t find in the park should be readily available on Long Island and through private merchants within the neighboring communities. You should expect to pay higher prices for goods and services on Fire Island.
Visitors go through line at ferry terminal office to board boat to Watch Hill.
Getting Around on Fire Island Requires Planning
You may only get to some facilities on Fire Island by ferry or private boat.

Did You Know?
New York's state gem—the garnet—may be found among the sands that comprise Fire Island's beaches. Due to differences in size and weight of the grains of sand, you may sometimes see ribbons of garnet and magnatite among the white quartz, as the sand settles on the beach.
