WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today released the following statement on the Ocean Isle, North Carolina beach house fire which killed seven students, six of whom attended University of South Carolina.
“We are all saddened by the tragedy this weekend in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Loss of life is always difficult, but to lose our young people who have a large part of their lives ahead of them is truly difficult. My thoughts and prayers go to the friends and families of those who lost their loved-ones, to the students who survived the devastating fire, and to the student body at USC and Clemson, who are helping one another cope at this difficult time.”
