WASHINGTON, DC—House Majority Whip-elect, Congressman James E. Clyburn today announced his whip team for the 110th Congress which will include two new members, Reps. G.K. Butterfield (NC-01) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-20).

“I value the experience and perspective that Congressman Butterfield and Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz will bring to the team.  Their unique insight as members of the Congressional Black Caucus and the Thirty-something Working Group respectively will be key in working to advance an agenda that meets the needs of the American people, helps to maintain unity within our Caucus, and sustains a Democratic majority.  My whip team will be ready to work in the first hundred hours of the new session to honor the campaign promises we made this year.  The American people voted for change, and we will bring it in the form of a raise in the minimum wage, a cut in student loan interest rate and a fair and open legislative process.”

Chief Deputy Whips were selected by Speaker-Designate Nancy Pelosi in consultation with Majority Whip-elect Clyburn.  Following are the incoming Chief Deputy Whips for the 110th Congress:

U.S. Rep. John Lewis of Georgia, Senior Chief Deputy Whip
U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters of California
U.S. Rep. John Tanner of Tennessee
U.S. Rep. Ed Pastor of Arizona
U.S. Rep. Janice Schakowsky of Illinois
U.S. Rep. Joe Crowley of New York
U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette of Colorado
U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield of North Carolina
U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida
