A graduate student in the Public History Field School studies a reference book in the ARC. The ARC houses a number of reference materials that are accessible to the public.

The Archives and Reference Collection (known as the ARC) is a new, combined resource comprised of the park’s library, museum archives, and research files.

The ARC, including the library, is managed by the Division of Cultural Resources, and Curator Tessa Langford is responsible for its operation.

The ARC is housed in the second floor of the Fur Store building inside the reconstructed fort.

Not only is this recent move beneficial for the books and papers, since they are in a climate-controlled, secure facility, but we hope it will also aid researchers by organizing various documents, books, maps and artifacts in one central location rather than spread through several buildings.

Note to prospective researchers: Genealogists and researchers seeking Hudson's Bay Company and U.S. Army records should note that, while the park has a few of these documents on microfilm, we are not a repository of these primary source documents. Please contact either the Hudson's Bay Company Archives in Manitoba, Canada;  Archives Canada ; or the U.S. National Archives for this information.
