Hydraulic Analysis Capabilities
The Hydraulic Investigations and Laboratory Services Group performs a variety of analytical studies to support design activities, operational reviews, and planning efforts. We have a wealth of expertise and a strong foundation of experience with large water resources projects and Reclamation's facilities in particular. These analytical studies often make use of specialized computer software developed in the laboratory. Example applications include:
- Estimating discharge capacities of reservoir outlet facilities, and analyzing the effects of proposed modifications
- Simulating automated control of canal systems
- Analyzing cavitation potential of spillways, gates, and valves
- Estimating water-quality effects (temperature, dissolved gas, dissolved oxygen) of structural modifications of outlet facilities and changes in operations
