The NCI Web site, www.cancer.gov, has received national and international recognition for excellence in design, creativity, functionality, and performance. The site has received a number of top awards, including the following:

  • NCI Web Site Is 2005 Webby Award Winner: Best International Government Web Site

    The international 9th Annual Webby Awards were announced in New York City on May 3, 2005, and the National Cancer Institute's (NCI's) Web site, www.cancer.gov, was named the winner in the government Web sites category.

    Established in 1996, the Webby Awards have been called "the Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times and "the online Oscars" by Time magazine. The awards are widely considered to be the leading international awards honoring excellence in Web design, creativity, usability, and functionality.  Read More >

  • National Cancer Institute Wins FREDDIE Award for Its Web Site

    On Nov. 5, 2004, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) was presented with a FREDDIE Award for its redesigned Web site, www.cancer.gov. NCI Director Andrew C. von Eschenbach, M.D., and Acting Director of Communications Nelvis Castro accepted the award on behalf of NCI at the 30th Annual FREDDIE Awards, held in New York, N.Y.

    The FREDDIEs, also known as the International Health and Medical Media Awards, were established 30 years ago to bring together the fields of medical science, education and the arts for an international competition devoted to educational health and medical productions.   • NCI Web Site Again Named Best in Customer Satisfaction Among Government Sites in Latest ACSI Survey

    For the fourth straight quarter the NCI Web site, www.cancer.gov, was named best in customer satisfaction in the e-government Portals/Department Main Sites category of a recent evaluation of selected U.S. government sites. The results were released in a Sept. 20, 2005, report titled "Government Satisfaction Scores," a special quarterly report from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).  Read More >
