Xeroderma Pigmentosum is a rare genetic condition whereby a person's DNA lacks the ability to repair damage from ultravioet light.  The disorder leads to skin cancer as early as childhood.  Unless sun exposure is minimized, XP victims are likely to die of malignant melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma.

Sacramento Golf tournament is a great success

The very hard work of many, combined with the great generosity of still more added up to a very successful golf tournament on April 24 at the Dry Creek Ranch course in Galt, California, followed by dinner and a silent auction.  More than $10K was raised.

And the Harley goes to....!!

Cameron Bricker gets ready to draw the winning tickets.
What a terrific day!  The winner of the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy is Nick Kuryluk of Mississauga, Ontario.  The $500 Harley-Davidson gift certificate goes to Chris Johansen of Fairbanks, Alaska and the $250 gas card to Kenny Bales of Richmond, Indiana.

Thank you to all who bought tickets and to the Bricker family for being the force behind this wildly successful raffle.  With 2102 tickets sold, over $17,000 was raised that will go directly to helping kids and adults living with XP.

Camps and Retreats 2009

It's that time of year when we start to think about what to do when the kids aren't in school.  It's a particularly tricky thing to fill a Spring break or long Summer with typical camps.  Not only are most of the activities designed to keep everyone outside, but the task of working with the scores of camp counselors who will be unfamiliar with the requirements of an XP kid is daunting.

Fortunately, there are some wonderful opportunities designed specifically to meet our needs!  Follow the links to the right to find out more about camps and retreats in 2009.  And check back often as we will update the list as we find more.
