File a Complaint

The PSC can help you resolve disputes with utilities regarding electric, natural gas, water and some aspects of local telephone service. You should first try to resolve your dispute directly with the utility before contacting the PSC for assistance. If you are unsuccessful in resolving your concern directly with the utility you can file a complaint with the PSC. The PSC employs Consumer Specialists and Analysts who are trained to resolve disputes and ensure that the utilities are following state laws and regulations. You can file your complaint in one of three ways:

  1. By Phone:  You can reach a Consumer Specialist Monday through Friday between 7:45 AM and 4:30 PM,  by calling 1-800-225-7729, 1-608-266-2001 in Madison, or TTY at 1-608-267-1479. We have recently modified our phone menu to provide more efficient service. If you need to speak with a Specialist concerning payment arrangements, you should select option 6 on our main menu. If you need to speak with a Specialist regarding any other issue not highlighted in our menu, you should select option 7. You can make these selections without having to listen to the entire menu. A copy of the entire phone menu can be found at the following link:  View\Download PDF File (19kb)
  2. By Letter:  You may send a letter to: Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, P.O. Box 7854, Madison, WI 53707-7854.
A Consumer Specialist will review your complaint and forward it to the utility for resolution.
  3. Online:  File a complaint on-line
