Tips on Saving Data

Note: these USGS Illinois WSC real-time data web pages use an older interface and eventually will be replaced by the USGS national real-time data web pages located at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/il/nwis/rt. Please update any bookmarks to use the national real-time data pages. If you have any questions, please email gs-w-il_NWISWeb_Maintainer

When you select Retrieve Data on the retrieval form a page containing the data in tab-delimited format will appear. Lines beginning with # are comments. You may select your browser's Save or Save As option (in the File menu in most graphical browsers) to save the data.

Note for X-Mosaic users:
When saving tab-delimited (RDB) text files to a local disk, do not use the "save as" command after viewing the resultant data. Selecting "save as" will cause the tabs to be converted to spaces, which will make the files incompatible with rdb software. Instead, select "load to local disk" under the Options menu and then select Retrieve Data. Be sure to turn off "load to local disk" when you would prefer to see the pages on your screen.
