NCUA To Testify Tomorrow At Three Hearings

March 18, 2009, Alexandria, Va. – The National Credit Union Administration is scheduled to testify before three House and Senate Committees tomorrow, March 19, 2009, on Capitol Hill.

Chairman Michael E. Fryzel is scheduled to testify before the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee at a hearing on “Modernizing Bank Supervision and Regulation” at 10:30 a.m. in Room 538 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Executive Director David M. Marquis is scheduled to testify before the Senate Banking Housing and Urban Affairs Committee at a hearing on “Current Issues in Deposit Insurance” at 2:00 p.m. in Room 538 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Associate General Counsel Sheila Albin is scheduled to testify before the House Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit at a hearing on “H.R. 627, the Credit Cardholders’ Bill of Rights Act of 2009; and H.R. 1456, the Consumer Overdraft Protection Fair Practices Act of 2009” at 2:30 p.m. in Room 2128 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates, charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of nearly 89 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
