Redeem or Replace Bonds in Areas Affected by Disaster

You usually have to wait 12 months before you can redeem your EE and I Bonds. However, you may be able to redeem bonds sooner if you live in an area that has been affected by a disaster, such as a flood, fire, hurricane, or tornado.

If you are a victim, visit the Press Releases section to see if financial institutions in your area have been authorized to redeem bonds that are less than 12 months old. You can also find details on how to replace lost or destroyed bonds.
