Subject:      Minor changes in the SNOMED CT® Affiliate
              Licence Agreement

Dear UMLS Users,
The IHTSDO has recently announced minor changes in the SNOMED CT® Affiliate 
Licence Agreement. Because these changes are minor UMLS users are not 
required to sign a new license agreement. The changes are:
 
In Section 3 Extensions and Derivatives, paragraph 3.4 the sentence "The 
Licensee may not assign or otherwise transfer those Intellectual Property 
Rights to any other person unless (i) that person has a Namespace 
Identifier; and (ii) the transfer is notified in writing to the Licensor 
within thirty (30) days after the transfer." has been replaced with "The 
Licensee may not assign or otherwise transfer those Intellectual Property 
Rights to any other person unless (i) that person is an Affiliate and, in 
the case of Standards-Based Extensions or Standards-Based Derivatives, has 
a Namespace Identifier; and (ii) the transfer is notified in writing to the 
Licensor within thirty (30) days after the transfer." 
 
In Section 8 Protection of the Licensor’s Intellectual Property, paragraph 
8.2.1, "the Association's trademarks" has been replaced with "the 
Licensor's trademarks"
 
In Appendix A Defined Terms the following entries have been added:
Articles	the Licensor’s Articles of Association (vedtægter);
Regulations	regulations of the Licensor made in accordance with the 
Articles;
