Hoekstra Office Holds Workshop on Federal Grants for Public Safety and Protection

Washington, Nov 13, 2007 - The office of U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland, on Nov. 30 will host a workshop in Muskegon to provide nonprofit public safety organizations and shelters located in Michigan’s Second Congressional District with information on applying for federal grants.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30 at Grand Valley State University’s Annis Water Resources Institute, 740 W. Shoreline Drive.

The theme for the 2007 workshop is “Funds for Public Safety and Protection.” Representatives from the following federal agencies will present information about the federal grant process and each agency’s current and upcoming grant offerings:

  • U.S. Department of Homeland Security
  • U.S. Department of Justice
  • U.S. Department of Agriculture – Rural Development

Registration is required and due by Nov. 20. Space is limited to 100 seats. Please request a registration form by calling (616) 395-0030 or access a registration form online at http://hoekstra.house.gov. The $15 cost of admission includes lunch.
