If you are 18 years old and older, and in any of the following situations:
Ú Have been terminated or laid-off from employment; or
Ú Were self-employed (to include a farmer,
rancher or fisherman) but are employed as a result of general economic
conditions in the community in which the individual resides or because
of natural disasters; or
Ú A displaced homemaker; or
Ú Are going through disrupted employment; and
you are interested in job retraining, you may be eligible for WIA's
Dislocated Worker Program. The WIA Dislocated Worker program provides
opportunities for customers to acquire new and updated job skills and
assist them in job placement .
PROGRAM COMPONENTS
On-the-Job Training (OJT) Activity
On-the-Job Training activity provides you the opportunity to be
retrained with occupational skills of a job you are interested in and
get paid while in training!
The OJT activity is designed to prepare participants with technical skills necessary to perform a specific job.
Upon satisfactory completion of the training, employers are expected to retain the participant as a regular employee.

Classroom Training (CRT) Activity
Classroom Training activity provides opportunities to learn the
knowledge you will need to know about the job in which you are
interested.
CRT is an activity designed to ensure participants with the technical
skills and information to apply while performing specific job tasks.

SERVICES
The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 mandates that participants are
provided core, intensive and training services. Job core services are
basic information about our programs and other government programs made
available for job seekers. Job intensive, job training and supportive
services assist participants to attain and retain employment.
Ú Pre-Employment Enhancement Training (P.E.E.T.) & Testing Workshop
Ú Career Strategy Plan Development
Ú Job referral and placement
Ú Referrals to appropriate programs
Ú Child Care assistance during the training
Ú Transportation allowance
Ú Uniform allowance
Ú Needs related payments
Ú Police Court Clearance
Ú Drug Testing for Employment
Ú Professional Counseling
Ú Tools needed for training
Ú Other assistance needed as identified by the Case Manager during P.E.E.T.
All services and training assistance under WIA are federally funded to
eligible participants. It will require commitment and determination on
your part to take full advantage of this opportunity and, to
successfully complete the program goal - to be productively employed!
