If you are 14-21 years old, and meet the following requirements:
- Federal income guidelines; and
- Possess barrier(s) to employment (high school dropout, pregnant/parent teen, homeless, runaway, foster child, disabilities, offender/ex-offenders, basic skills deficient); or
- Exceed federal income guidelines, but posses at least one or more barriers to employment (high school dropout, pregnant/parent teen, disabilities, foster child (5% Window is applicable); and
you are willing to learn, complete the program, but most importantly, have the motivation to enhance academic and career skills, you may be eligible for WIA's Youth Program.
PROGRAM COMPONENTS
Work Experience (WE) Activity
Work Experience Activity is designed to expose youths to the world of work. The program provides hands-on training in learning work readiness skills. It also enables youths to experience the reality of the day-to-day demands of the working environment.
This training can either be paid or unpaid and may take up to 480 hours to complete.
Limited Internship (LI) Activity
Limited Internship Activity provides youth opportunities to learn a particular job skill that they are interested in and get paid while being trained!
Upon satisfactory completion of the training, employers are required to retain participants as a regular employee.

Classroom Training (CRT) Activity
Classroom Training Activity provides youth opportunities to obtain knowledge and applications of occupational skills of their interest. This training also provides in-school and out-of-school youths support to acquire academics to attain a High School Diploma/G.E.D.
This activity is designed to ensure participants obtain technical skills and information to apply while performing specific job tasks.

WIA of 1998 mandates that participants are provided the following services to support their efforts towards the search of a satisfying and productive employment:
- Pre-Employment Enhancement Training (P.E.E.T.) & Testing Workshop
- Career Strategy Plan development
- Follow-ups
- Job referral and placement
- Child Care assistance during the training
- Transportation allowance
- Uniform allowance
- Needs related payments
- Police Court Clearance
- Drug Testing for Employment
- Professional Counseling
- Tools needed for training
- Other assistance needed as identified by the Case Manager during P.E.E.T.
WIA's Youth program is designed to enhance youth education, encourage school completion through alternative educational programs, and provide exposure to the world of work through apprenticeship and career exploration.
