Washington, Apr 30 - U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland, issued the following statement today upon Chrysler announcing that is entering into bankruptcy.

"Chrysler’s bankruptcy will have a ripple effect throughout Michigan and the U.S., impacting thousands of employees, shareholders, suppliers and dealerships. I hope for an expedited, surgical bankruptcy as the administration has promised so that Chrysler reemerges successfully with its new partner Fiat.

"Michigan continues to struggle economically and can ill-afford another blow, but bringing Fiat to Michigan presents an opportunity to help the state rebound and can potentially be part of the solution to the problems that have plagued the American automotive industry."
