Engineering Trade-Offs

Image of Decision Process - Environment, Acceptance, Performance, Economics The Engineering Trade-Offs (ETO) Team is tasked to develop a new, integrated decision-making approach to compare/contrast two or more states of being: a benchmark and an alternative, a change in a production process, alternative processes or products.  ETO highlights the differences in: 1) engineering performance; 2) economic/cost efficiency; 3) potential environmental burdens. ETO includes an assessment of the potential social resistance to a change. For more information on ETO, please read our ETO Program Brief.

The major projects of the Engineering Trade-Offs Team are:

Office of Research & Development | National Risk Management Research Laboratory
