President Obama Expected to Sign the Bill Today
Washington,
Mar 12 -
Congress has passed legislation that among other provisions includes nearly $3 million for recreational and commercial harbors located within Michigan’s Second Congressional District. President Obama is expected to sign the measure today.
"Safe and navigable harbors are economic engines that drive the communities that surround them," said U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland. "Dredging projects accommodate maritime commerce, tourism and recreational watercraft activities that are necessary for many West Michigan communities to succeed."
The funding is as follows:
Arcadia: $75,000
Frankfort: $275,000
Pentwater: $82,000
Muskegon: $325,000
Ludington: $410,000
Holland: $546,000
Grand Haven: $1,218,000
The bill also includes funding to address needs that may become necessary in other harbors in Michigan.
