Washington, DC (July 8, 2006) – Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) today announced that the Texas Department of Transportation, acting for and on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration, offered an airport improvement grant to the City of Edinburg for the Edinburg International Airport. The $200,000 grant will be used to design and construct a hangar.
“As the City of Edinburg continues to grow, we have to ensure that the community has the infrastructure in place to keep up with demand,” said Hinojosa. “The new hangar at Edinburg International Airport will provide the local economy with a boost, create new jobs, and attract businesses through commercial growth.”
Federal funds have been approved for 75 percent of estimated hangar costs, and the City of Edinburg will make-up the remaining 25 percent.
