Washington was granted state program approval (SPA) in 1993. Washington is the only state in Region 10 that has an approved program.

Number of confirmed releases 6,399 (national total: 479,817)
Number of cleanups completed 4,464 (national total: 377,019)
Number of cleanups in backlog to be completed 1,935 (national total: 102,798)

Percent of facilities in significant operational compliance with:
Release prevention requirements 74%
Release detection requirements 63%
Both prevention and release detection requirements 53%
