LAND USE PLANNING & PRESERVATION

Our Mission
The Delaware Department of Agriculture's Planning Section is a technical and professional enterprise within the Department which includes land use planning, agricultural lands preservation and computer operations.

The Planning Section exists to:

  • Secure the future livability of Delaware and its agricultural heritage though sound planning, advocacy, land preservation, education and information;
  • And, to always strive for improved service to our clients. Our services will be delivered in an impartial, ethical, timely, reliable and consistent manner.

Farmland Preservation

The Delaware Agricultural Lands Preservation Foundation preserves farms - the cornerstone of rural Delaware. The Foundation preserves historic structures, wildlife habitats, important environmental features, wetlands, and forests, as well as setting aside, permanently, the critical farmland for future generations of Delawareans.

The preservation of your farmland is Voluntary - it's up to you. Delaware's farmland preservation program has two major components Agricultural Preservation Districts and Agricultural Conservation Easements.
