CASTLE, COMMITTEE EXAMINE FLU PREPAREDNESS
Washington
-
Today, with 38 confirmed cases of H1N1 in the state of Delaware, Congressman Mike Castle (R-DE) attended a U.S. Education and Labor Committee Hearing entitled "Ensuring Preparedness Against the Flu Virus at School and Work," which examined the role of Federal, State and local governments, schools and employers in limiting the spread of the flu virus.
After the hearing, Rep. Castle released the following statement:
"Delawareans can rest assured that federal, state and local officials, as well as the University of Delaware have been extremely proactive in responding to the HINI cases," said Rep. Castle. "At this point, it is important for everyone-- especially those in schools and the workplace where many people congregate together -- to take the time to learn and practice good preventive health habits, like hand washing, from credible sources, such as the U.S. CDC or HHS websites. As we learn more about the H1N1 virus, we must not overreact, yet remain ready to implement public health response plans, should events worsen."
