NEAR-LINE ARCHIVE DATA MINING (NADM)

The Near-line Archive Data Mining (NADM) is the Goddard Earth Sciences Distributed Active Archive Center's (GES DAAC) web portal to the Earth Observing Systems (EOS) data pool. The EOS data pool uses a large disk cache to hold EOS data for an extended period of time. The NADM web portal enables registered users to submit and execute data mining algorithm codes on the EOS data in the data pool. The generated mined data products can then be transferred via the network to the user.

NADM Features

  • Manage user's research data more efficiently
  • Decrease download time by applying algorithm closer to the data
  • Automate subscription processing
  • Data mining algorithm language (C, FORTRAN, or IDL)

User and Algorithm Requirements

  • User registration with the Earth Observing System Data Gateway is required:
  • Algorithm is written in C, FORTRAN, or IDL
  • Algorithm is executable on the command line with no user interaction and no graphics involvement
    • Example of a command line the user's algorithm will handle
      alg input_file output_file
  • Algorithm accepts only one input data file and must output one and only one data file
  • Algorithm generates an empty output data file when input data is missing or empty
  • Algorithm should use modest CPU time
  • Algorithm uses data from the Datapool
