2009 MAC Jr. Faculty/Postdoctoral Developmental Workshop

The ASCB Minorities Affairs Committee is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for its 4th Annual Junior Faculty/Postdoctoral Developmental Workshop. The workshop is scheduled for June 18-19, 2009. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE MAY 15, 2009.

The workshop will be held in Chicago, IL, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Wacker Dr., Chicago, IL 60601, USA (www.chicagohyatt.com).

Plenary and breakout sessions will cover areas relevant for the establishment of an academic career at research-intensive and comprehensive/teaching institutions. Session topics will include the following: Professional Conduct, Tenure, Grantsmanship, Mentorship, Ethics/Conflicts of Interest, Writing, Science Policy, Lab Set up and Management.

The workshop is open to all postdoctoral fellows and junior level faculty. A limited number of travel awards are available for members of underrepresented groups in the sciences, members of disadvantaged populations, and for faculty (regardless of ethnicity) at Minority Serving Institutions. The travel award will cover travel, registration ($200), and housing.
