A Proposed Course and Modular Curriculum For FGDC Standards Adoption and Implementation

Award Number 08HQAG0034, Category 6: FGDC-Endorsed Standards Implementation Assistance and Outreach

This project will develop a course and modular curriculum for FGDC standard adoption and implementation that updates, integrates, and/or creates new online educational materials in support of the US National Grid, Cadastral, Orthoimagery, and the emerging Addressing standards. Part I of this project will create individual curriculum modules corresponding to each standard for posting under a revised “Training” section at the FGDC website. Part II of this project will integrate the newly created modules with existing FGDC standards materials to create a 3-credit hour online academic course that will be offered through Delta State University and provided, free of charge, to any accredited post-secondary educational institution for online delivery. Content will target beginning users from both within the geospatial professions and those for whom these technologies are becoming a requisite secondary skill set (for example, emergency and 911 system managers, tax assessors, and economic developers).
