Precision Agriculture Systems research at CSWQRU focuses on

  • acquiring new knowledge about spatial variability of soil landscapes;
  • developing and evaluating sensing technology and data interpretation methods for soil, site, and yield variability within fields; and
  • studying the environmental and profitability implications of site-specific management systems.
  • Yield mapping has shown that crop yields within a single field generally vary by a factor of two or more, primarily due to variations in plant available soil moisture.
