Economists
The FDIC is an independent agency of the federal government that provides deposit insurance to U.S. banks and thrifts and serves as the primary regulator of banks that are chartered by the states that do not join the Federal Reserve System. FDIC economists conduct and publish empirical and theoretical research on topics relevant to the condition of the banking industry, bank regulation, and deposit insurance. They also develop statistical and financial models to support FDIC operations in such areas as finance, deposit insurance, bank safety and soundness, bank supervision, bank failure resolution, and consumer protection. The FDIC generally follows the academic job cycle and interviews prospective candidates at the annual AEA/AFA meetings. Immediate staff openings may be posted at any time. All applicants must be U.S. citizens. Current opening can be found at the Careers at FDIC Website or by contacting the Center for Financial Research at cfr@fdic.gov.

FDIC’s Division of Insurance and Research has posted multiple positions for Financial Economist at the CG-13/14 level and Senior Economist at the CG-15 level. Please share this information with your colleagues and interested parties. The posting can be found at the following link.
