The Financial Aid Office at the School of Mines strives to adhere to and maintain the highest levels of ethical and moral integrity in the administration of the various financial aid programs available to our students. As a result, we subscribe to the principles set forth in the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) Statement of Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct for Institutional Financial Aid Professionals. We invite you to review this information and feel free to contact our office if you have any questions.

Many college students find it necessary to supplement their personal and family financial resources in order to attend college. For the 2007-2008 academic year, students at the School of Mines benefited from over $11 million in financial assistance from various funding sources from both within and outside the University. The Financial Aid Office Staff will make every effort to develop a financial aid package (some combination of loan, work, grant and scholarship) which will make it possible for capable, qualified, and needy students to finance college and living costs. However, the student should still be prepared to pay for a portion of college costs through savings from employment, and parents of dependent students are expected to assist with the student's cost of education to the extent to which they are able.

The following information is intended to help you and your family better understand the Financial Aid process. If at any time you have questions about this process, feel free to contact our office. We are here to serve you and help make your educational experience at the School of Mines as rewarding as possible.
