Intercompany Sports
In addition to Varsity intercollegiate opportunities, USCGA also offers a variety of additional sports through the Intercompany (IC) Program, which exposes cadets to an expanded number of activities. Cadets may choose to participate in one of these as their primary (mandatory) sports activity or play in the off-season of their intercollegiate sport.
The IC Program is the Academy's intramural program and features competition between the eight companies (the Academy's military organizational structure). This program runs during the academic year as well as during Swab Summer for new cadets. The program is cadet supervised and the specific sports offered each year are based entirely on the interests of the Corp. Among the more popular team sports are basketball, softball, volleyball and flag football. There is also an annual swim meet and track and field competition.
