Water Management Planning:

Water management planning is the first step in identifying opportunities and objectives for conserving water. Opportunities should be evaluated to identify those which will provide the most benefits to the water user. Through the WCFSP, technical and financial assistance is available to encourage the development of effective water conservation plans by water districts.

Within the Great Plains Region, there are a variety of water districts providing water for agricultural, municipal and industrial (M&I), and rural water systems.  For agricultural water districts, Reclamation has developed the Water Conservation Planning Guidebook to assist in developing plans. For M&I and rural water districts, Reclamation suggests using EPA's Water Conservation Plan Guidelines.
