During the roundtable he discussed the support elements the Air Force Reserves provides to the Reservists during their deployment and when they return home. "Once they do go home, whether they come from an individual program or whether they are gone as a unit and have been deployed as a unit, we have quite a few things that we would do as far as reintegration efforts, one of the primary of which right now, as a Department of Defense initiative, is called the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program," said Stenner. Approximately 5,000 Reservists provide global support every day to the operational missions of the Air Force. Audio(Mp3)

Chelle Brewer, the 2008 Military Spouse of the Year, discussed her year in review with bloggers and online journalists during a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable May 8. As a wife of an injured soldier, 2nd Lt. Steven Brewer, and mother of a child with special needs, Brewer has triumphed over adversity, while continuing to find time to volunteer for the USO, American Red Cross, American Heart Association and March of Dimes. "When I tell my story, like I'm doing right now, that's meaningful, because hopefully I'll be able to have people get in touch with me who need my services or can conenct me to other people that I can help. That's been the biggest thing, find priorities and defining who you are and really making choices, whether they're the right ones or not the right ones, and going from there," she said.  Audio(Mp3)

Col. John P. Maietta, Director of Strategic Operations, Directorate of Interior Affairs, MNSTC-I
Iraq’s Ministry of Interior is a "learning organization" that understands the need to build Iraqis’ confidence in their police force, Col. Maietta told bloggers. "Compared with the dark days of Saddam Hussein, most Iraqis now have confidence and trust in their police, thanks to the growing skill and professionalism that the coalition has helped them to achieve. ... The job of MoI public relations is to reinforce those positive feelings and promote continued improvement in the relationship between ordinary citizens and the police who serve them."  Story | Audio(Mp3)

Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard military air crews and aerial firefighters are participating in a week-long annual certification, hosted by the U.S. Forest Service, to not only be qualified, but be prepared to fight forest fires at a moment’s notice. “The event is done using military C-130 aircraft and U.S. Forest Service lead planes,” Lt. Col. David Condit, 302nd Airlift Wing Chief of Safety at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., told online journalists and bloggers attending a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable, May 6. “We have four different airlift wings that will deploy one from the Air Force Reserve and three from the Air National Guard.” The system that the Air Reserve and Air National Guard will train and use on fires is the U.S. Air Force's Military Airborne Firefighting System II, a firefighting system that deploys fire retardant from a C-130. The U.S. Air Force is using this new technology to wage a "war on fires" for the upcoming fire season.  Story | Audio(Mp3)
