Community College Caucus
The Congressional Community College Caucus
In 2005, Congressman Miller joined fellow Representatives David Wu of Oregon, Mike Castle of Delaware, and Roger Wicker of Mississippi to found the Congressional Community College Caucus. The purpose of the caucus is to raise awareness about the unique role community colleges play in the American educational system, as well as provide a forum for Members to identify and discuss issues affecting community colleges. North Carolina is home to 58 community colleges, and today there are more than 11.6 million Americans enrolled in community colleges nationwide. Through open-door admission, affordability, and community-based teaching, community colleges provide access to higher education for millions of Americans who might otherwise be excluded. The principle of affordable and accessible education is fundamental to America’s values and essential to America’s continued prosperity in the 21st Century.
