Scalise to Host Kids Expo Saturday, March 7

Scalise and experts from a number of agencies will be available to help teach children about health, education and safety issues

Kenner -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that he will be hosting a Kids Expo on Saturday, March 7 to provide families an opportunity to meet with experts from a number of agencies with information regarding health, education, and safety issues for children.

“I want to help our kids get a healthy start in life and protect them from internet predators and other dangers,” Scalise said. “The Kids Expo will give families a fun opportunity to learn more about health, education, and safety issues for children.”

•    Crimestoppers – Fingerprinting of children
•    Gumbo from the New Orleans Saints
•    The Kenner Fire Department – “Stop, Drop and Roll and Learn not to Burn”
•    LaChip – Health insurance program registration for uninsured children
•    Children’s Hospital - Tooth Bus, Ronald McDonald Care Mobile (free immunization with parents’ consent), and the Children's Healthcare Assistance Program (CHAP) (Free health care for families who do not qualify for Medicaid)
•    New Orleans Dietetic Association – March is National Nutrition Month
•    LSU Ag Center/Jefferson Parish 4-H – “Fun with Food” and Nutrition and exercise
•    Computer Presentation on Parental and Kid Safety – University of New Orleans Department of Computer Science
•    LSU Healthcare Network - Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine
•    Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation - eye screenings to detect poor eyesight
