On February 17, 2009, President Barack Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law. This bill included provisions to help individuals, families, local government, and state government. Below is a guide for how to take advantage of the provisions in the Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

On the Road to Recovery:
- The State of Oregon has an updated list of contact information for agencies receiving support from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

- The Department of Energy has released a city-by-city breakdown of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds that will be used for projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce total energy use. Find your city's funds here.
- On April 1, 2009, the Making Work Pay Tax Credit went into full effect. For the next two years, this tax relief will save working individuals $400 a year, and families will save $800. The Department of the Treasury estimates that this legislation will save $700 million for Oregon taxpayers and will benefit 1.4 million Oregonians.
- The U.S. General Services Administration announced that two Oregon buildings will receive federal money to be remodeled into a high performance green building. The Portland BPA building will receive $6,585,000, and the Baker David J. Wheeler Federal Building will receive $967,000.
- The U.S. Department of Education released $44 billion in competitive grants for states and schools on April 1, 2009. For more information on applying, visit the Department of Education website .
- TriMet released a list of transportation projects and descriptions detailing where and how funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will be spent in the Portland metro area.
- On April 9, 2009, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that $2,694,000 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) would he headed to Oregon to clean up underground storage tank petroleum leaks. The EPA also announced that Oregon would receive $1.73 million under the ARRA's State Clean Diesel Funding Program.
