Spring 2004 Paying for Purchases with Your ATM Card Your ATM card also is a type of debit card that may be used for purchases at "point of sale" terminals at stores, with the payment coming automatically from your bank account. Contact your financial institution if you have questions about using your ATM card or debit card for purchases.
