King Introduces Resolution of Inquiry on DHS Rightwing Report
(May 6, 2009) - Today, U.S. Rep Peter T. King (R-NY), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, along with Republican Leader John Boehner, Republican Whip Eric Cantor, Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence and Republican Members of the Committee on Homeland Security introduced a Resolution of Inquiry asking Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to release information used in compiling the so-called “Rightwing Extremism,” report.  “We have made repeated requests that the committee hold a bipartisan oversight hearing, but unfortunately those requests have been ignored," King said.  "We are left with no other alternative but to demand answers from the Secretary of Homeland Security herself.”

King, Homeland Republicans Want Answers on Guantanamo Bay Closing
(April 24, 2009) - Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security and Committee Republicans sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano requesting the Administration release information on how it plans to transfer, prosecute, and possibly release Guantanamo (GTMO) detainees.

King introduces See Something, Say Something Legislation
(April 23, 2009) - Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, along with Senate Homeland Security Ranking Member Susan Collins (R-ME) and Chairman Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and  Rep. Jim Marshall (D-GA), introduced legislation providing civil immunity for those who, in good faith, report suspicious behavior. This bill expands on King's success in passing the so-called Flying Imams bill in 2007.

King Commemorates Six-Year Anniversary of DHS

Republicans call on Pelosi to Streamline DHS Oversight
(November 20, 2008) - Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King calls lack of Authorization bill 'absolute failure'

King Bombing Prevention bill passes House
(June 18, 2008) - Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (NY), Ranking Member on the Committee on Homeland Security, announced that H.R. 4749, The National Bombing Prevention Act of 2008 passed the House.  The bill establishes an Office of Bombing Prevention within DHS and directs the President to develop a national strategy to prevent and prepare for terrorist explosive attacks in the United States.

King releases Report on link between Cigarette Smuggling and Terror
(April 29, 2008) - Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (NY), Ranking Member on the Committee on Homeland Security, announced a staff report titled, “Tobacco and Terror: How Cigarette Smuggling is Funding Our Enemies Abroad.”  The report found that a well-organized smuggling operation can generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in a single week, with a portion of that money often being funneled to terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

King on lack of DHS Authorization bill
(April 9, 2008) - Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (NY), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, called on Committee Democrats to draft the annual Authorization bill for the Department of Homeland Security.  This would be the first time in five years that the Committee has not taken up an Authorization bill.
