Our Science - Core Resources

Core ResourcesThis section has been organized to help users find NCI/CCR core resources and technologies. Centralized scientific resources have been established to give NCI investigators access to new technologies, special expertise, and additional technical support in fields such as imaging, analytical/protein chemistry, genetics/genomics, and structural biology. Cores, located at both the Bethesda campus and at NCI-Frederick, are designed to support, complement, and advance the Institute's research efforts.

CCR’s Office of Science and Technology Partnerships (OSTP), headed by Dr. David Goldstein, is creating new opportunities for researchers to access advanced technologies and scientific resources. OSTP develops technology-related resources such as the NCI Technologies & Core Resources Directory, websites, and databases. This Office also plans seminars, workshops, and symposia to keep scientists informed about new developments. In addition, OSTP facilitates the formation of partnerships, collaborations, and technology transfer agreements between CCR and non-CCR scientists and helps identify and evaluate new technologies and resources of value to the NCI research community.

The NCI/SAIC Research Technology Program, located at NCI-Frederick, offers NCI researchers open access to cutting-edge resources in proteomics, microarrays, mouse models, DNA sequencing, and other fields.

The NIH Roadmap provides a framework of the priorities NIH as a whole must address in order to optimize its entire research portfolio. It lays out a vision for a more efficient and productive system of medical research. The NIH Roadmap also identifies the most compelling opportunities in three main areas: new pathways to discovery, research teams of the future, and re-engineering the clinical research enterprise.
