Submitting Electronic Files
This is presented by the Print Media and Mail Services Group to offer you, the customer, information to submit print jobs electronically.
Read this information in its entirety and if there are any questions concerning these instructions or any facet of the printing process, call 586-4328 to schedule a planning meeting.
Electronic media submitted must be suitable for film output on the contractor's high resolution image setter. Electronic media may include CD's, 3-1/2" diskettes, zip or Jaz drives. The electronic media submitted for publishing should be produced on either a Macintosh or IBM compatible PC using page layout software such as Adobe PageMaker, Quark XPress, Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Framemaker or Ventura Publisher; art programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Aldus Freehand and CorelDraw; and Photo imaging software such as Adobe Photoshop.
If a file is saved as a postscript file, it allows the printer to produce the negatives without having the software that was used to create it. Since there are numerous types and versions of software, you should submit both a postscript file and the original files used to create the document.
Using color? If color is in your document make sure that all spot colors are assigned the exact same name in each program. In addition, avoid using the default spot colors such as Red, Green, and Blue that appear in the color menu of most page layout software packages.
What to submit? GPO Form 952 "Desktop Publishing-Disk Information" must be completed in detail. Please ensure that a person is listed on the form who can answer questions regarding the electronic media and who is readily accessible.
Printer and screen fonts must be provided. Also, submit an actual size dummy/laser proof printed from the electronic media submitted.
For any job submitted for printing, a Request for Visual and Print Media Services Form must be completed.
